1) Volunteer for Coastal Cleanup Day with UCLA APA
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear UCLA APA:

Did you know that 80% of the trash you see on our coast and oceans does NOT come from beach goers, but travels our storm drain channels from as far away as 60 miles before landing on our sand and surf? You can play an important part in the ongoing fight to keep our beaches clean and safe for people, sea life and birds, and the ocean itself. Please join Heal the Bay to help reduce pollution on our beaches on Coastal Cleanup Day: Saturday, September 16, 2006, at Venice Beach at Rose Avenue, from 9:00 am to noon! Your efforts to pick up litter help create a safer environment for beachgoers and coastal creatures. Plus, you'll get great exercise walking the beach with other UCLA Asian Pacific Alumni!! Free Parking is available at the beach lot on Rose Avenue and Ocean Front Walk - just tell the attendant you are there for Coastal Cleanup Day. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Rhey Lee at rheylee@yahoo.com or 310.283.4673. Thanks!!

The 13th APEX Annual Awards Gala with Dinner & Silent Auction is an annual celebration in which APEX honors and raises the visibility of prominent Asian Pacific Americans in the spheres of professional leadership, community service, the arts, and entertainment: all integral parts of APEX’s 13 years of commitment to the empowered individual and the community at large.

We present this celebration to showcase our achievements not only to our members and peers, but also to our more corporate sponsors and community leaders. The event is the culmination of our accomplishments to those we work closest with, and to recognize exemplary individuals who have significantly supported the Asian American community.

It is extremely important as a community to come together and create platform and opportunities to raise more leaders in the private and public sector. Come and find out who's who and who's doing what in the Asian Pacific American community here in Southern California as we fundraise for our organization!
