Welcome to the e-mail newsletter of the Asian Pacific Alumni of UCLA where you will find the latest information on events including networking mixers, professional development workshops, and happenings within the Alumni Association and the University!
The 2005-06 year will be a year of opportunity for continued growth for the Asian Pacific Alumni of UCLA. I look forward to collaborating with you in your growth as Bruin alumni and promoting the growth of APA UCLA in the coming year.
Upcoming events including our inaugural APA UCLA Boosters Club event with Coach Keating and Josh Shipp and Kelvin Kim from the UCLA Basketball Team on Wednesday, December 7. We also are looking to raise additional funds to award more undergraduate student scholarships.
The 2005-06 UCLA Asian Pacific Alumni Association board and I look forward to working with you and seeing you at future events!

2) UCLA Bruins Athletics Booster Kick-Off Event

Join APA UCLA for its inaugural Bruin Booster Club event at the James West Alumni Center! Meet Coach Kerry Keating and team members Josh Ship and Kelvin Kim.
Coach Keating oversees recruiting and will share a preview of the upcoming men’s basketball season regarding player development, the incoming freshmen class, and the future of UCLA basketball. Afterwards there will be a Q&A session and an opportunity to mingle with and talk to Coach Keating.

STATEMENT BY APA-UCLA
October 17, 2005
CREATION OF THE APA-UCLA BRUIN BOOSTER CLUB
MIKE FONG, President of the Asian Pacific Alumni of UCLA (APA-UCLA) : as you know APA-UCLA is an official chapter of the UCLA Alumni Association and provides a vehicle for our thousands of Asian Pacific American(APA) alums to participate in support of their alma mater in a more intimate, comfortable and personal way.
APA-UCLA has tried to serve its members through networking opportunities, professional development, APA community involvement and to show our support of UCLA in general and the APA professors, staff and students on campus.
The APA-UCLA Booster Club is an effort to create a subcommittee of our organization to reach out to the many APA alums that support our athletic programs, like, basketball, football, and other sports. I have appointed one of our members: Kenney Mah to chair this new committee.
KENNEY MAH: as Mike said APA-UCLA in creating the Booster Club is reaching out to our current members and new members who are interested in participating in enjoyable events like tailgating, receptions for guest speakers (coaches and players) and some fundraising efforts to support the athletic programs.
I think the APA-UCLA Booster Club will be a very enjoyable and exciting way to carry out one of our goals of “giving back” to our alma mater UCLA. We invite those who have not yet joined to join with us by emailing APA for more information at apaucla@yahoo.com.

Re: APA-UCLA Bruin Booster Club
I wanted to congratulate one of our UCLA Alumni Association chapters --- the Asian Pacific Alumni Association of UCLA (APA-UCLA) on their creation of their APA-UCLA Bruin Booster Club.
As you know our Asian Pacific Alums have been great supporters of our athletic programs over the years through their attendance, season ticket purchases, contributions and other support of our UCLA athletic programs.
We are delighted that APA-UCLA has created their Booster Club to encourage greater enthusiastic support and make that support an enjoyable experience for our vast Asian Pacific American alumni of UCLA. We welcome their support!

Thank you APA members and friends who attended our annual rivalry mixer in person and in spirit. We had over 150 people show up at Chop Suey Café last Wednesday. Everyone had a great time!
